A thermal camera shows how much abuse a tire receives during a burn out

If you ever wondered how hot and how quickly a tire burns when it is forced to spin in place during the smokey ritual of burning out, wonder no more. This video shows the rear tires of an S2000 reaching over 320 degrees Fahrenheit in seconds. And that is on the relatively smooth surface of a garage.

You can see the chunks of melted rubber flying off the tires as they scream and the rear brakes got to 600 degrees, discoloring the steel from the prolonged stress of fighting the motor. This kind of stress is why you shouldn't do massive burnouts unless you have another set of tires ready to replace the ones you just savagely murdered.
