Formula E, the all electric racing series, is embracing it's role as a pioneer in motorsports by picking a car design that evokes a futuristic concept straight out of a video game. These designs are still in the early stages, but we would not be surprised to see very similar cars on the track within the next two years.

The extremely slippery aero will certainly help the cars make the most of their battery's limitations and the enclosed cockpit is something many open wheel series have been moving towards for safety. The racing series began racing in 2014 and has struggled to gain mainstream popularity. While range is a huge issue in any electric car, let alone an electric racing series, the shorter races this leads to is actually a plus, making each lap that much more important. The strange sound of the cars is hard to get used to, but anything fast and fun that is all electric should be embraced. These new car designs could definitely help.
