Discount Tire founder and long-time NASCAR supporter Bruce Halle passed away in his sleep due to natural causes.
Halle was the owner of the world’s largest largest tire and wheel retailer, which played a big part in him becoming involved with NASCAR. Discount Tire teamed up with Team Penske back in 2010, the same year Brad Keselwoski and Team Penske won the Xfinity Series championship.
The partnership has seen four different drivers win races for Discount Tire via Team Penske in Keselowski, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, and AJ Allmendinger.
Many have shared their thoughts, prayers, and condolences for a man that was loved and respected by many.
“I have had the privilege of working with and learning from the most talented, respected, humble and kind leader anyone could hope for, and I speak on behalf of all who knew Bruce in that he will be dearly missed,” said Michael Zuieback, CEO of Discount Tire as reported by Forbes.com.
Team Penske took to social media to share a heartfelt statement on their Twitter account.
“When you think about companies that have made a commitment and helped the grow the sport, especially in the Xfinity Series, there is no question that Discount Tire is one of the first ones that comes first to mind,” said Roger Penske as reported by NASCAR.com.
Discount Tire will be a primary sponsor for 10 races this upcoming season for Brad Keselowski and the No. 2 Ford Fusion as well as a primary sponsor for the No.22 Ford Mustang in the Xfinity Series.
