Sunday's playoff race at Martinsville was one of the most dramatic of the season, and multiple feuds and arguments broke out between drivers at the end of the race.

Denny Hamlin caused Chase Elliott to wreck in a controversial move, and fans cheered for Elliott and booed Hamlin during post race interviews. Kevin Harvick and Ryan Blaney were also involved in a heated exchange after the race as Harvick was displeased with how Blaney was driving.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. went on Periscope after the race as he does after every race, and he said NASCAR needs more short track races because they result in dramatic finishes and more entertaining races.

"That was a wild finish," Earnhardt said. "I ain't seen nothing like that ever. I don't think I've ever seen a short track finish that was so crazy.

"That's what NASCAR needs every week. NASCAR needs short track racing, particularly and preferably under the lights. If that was going on more often than not in the sport, you wouldn't have enough tickets."

Earnhardt said the sport doesn't necessarily need drivers intentionally wrecking other drivers, but the thrilling finish from Sunday was a result of the short track race at Martinsville. He believes if there were more short track races, fans would be more engaged and the races would be more entertaining.

After watching how Sunday's race at Martinsville transpired, it's hard to argue with Earnhardt's point. It wasn't as crash-filled as the race at Talladega, but it seemed like there was more strategy involved between the drivers. It was an intense race since it was the first race of the Round of 8, and it was one of the best of the season.

If NASCAR car had more races like that one throughout the season, it could help the ratings issue that's plagued the sport this season.
