After some Mercedes team members were robbed at gunpoint, Formula 1 and the International Automobile Federation (FIA) have put safety on the agenda.

This past weekend, as Mercedes team members left the track of the Brazilian Grand Prix, they were robbed at gunpoint for items consisting of passports, cell phones, and other valuables.
Unfortunately, Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes team wasn't the only one victimized. Pirelli's team was also targeted according to uk.reuters.com. Tire testing that was scheduled for later in the week was canceled after the latest incident.
The FIA has asked commercial rights holders to compile a report of the incidents, to be presented to FIA's World Motor Sport Council at its next meeting on Dec. 6,.
"The Council will then discuss the ways in which a more consistent and effective security procedure can be applied at all events of the FIA Formula One World Championship," said the governing body. "The findings will also be shared with other FIA championship organisers to maximize the positive impact this can have across all motor sport."
In an effort to maintain a safe environment for all parties working or visiting the events, the FIA has said it will work closely with Formula 1 and all others involved.
