Kyle Busch doesn't like a NASCAR change that impacts his team

Say this for Kyle Busch, the man has an opinion on everything. Not sure why he's all up in arms over the new change in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series to allow spec engines, but he's not a happy camper as the owner of Kyle Busch Motorsports.

"Obviously, we want to be a team that sticks to our guns and sticks with the OEM engine as much as possible and as long as possible because that's what the series is named off of, and the nameplate of these manufacturers is the engine and the body," Busch told kickinthetires.com.

That's all well and good for Busch who has a very nice manufacturer support deal with Toyota. But NASCAR took this step, and rightfully so, for the many other teams who don't and are trying to stay competitive while not going bankrupt at the same time. Allowing for teams to use spec engines, in this case the Ilmor engine, can save them as much half as if they had to stick with Ford, Toyota or Chevy. Even Toyota's main racing executive reversed course a few weeks back on the issue of spec engines.

"If there are some spec engines that have to be under a Tundra hood, so be it, we'll be OK,'' said Toyota Racing Development president David Wilson on NASCAR Radio's "Tradin' Paint."

Busch may see this as the cost of doing business and being a good business partner to Toyota. In the end, what does he really care if another team decides to go this route? They still have to race. If they can do it cheaper and win, all the better. That notion has Busch hedging his bets to never say never.

"It's something that we've kind of been fighting and not wanting to see happen for a while, but we're also not going to dog it and say that we're never going to run it," said Busch. "We know that there's going to be an evolution of change, and we've got to be ready for that, and if we've got to change over, then we're going to have to change over."
