This year, NASCAR drivers such as Jimmie Johnson, Bubba Wallace and Justin Allgaier helped raise awareness for the disease by painting pit wall pink at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

"An event like this really does help you remember the important things in life," Johnson said. "If you don't have sickness or disease or tragedy in your life, you just blissfully are unaware. When you meet survivors as I did today, it really pulls you out of your little world and helps you understand what somebody else is dealing with.

"I'm proud to be a part of this cause. Our sport has supported breast cancer month with pink detail and walls and cars and outfits and driver uniforms for years. One in eight women experience breast cancer. I'm a father of two daughters, so in my household this is definitely something that's in the conversation for us."

Wallace and Allgaier both said painting the wall and having breast cancer survivors join them was very important and significant.

It's a very special event for NASCAR, and the sport does an excellent job each season raising awareness for the disease.
