Kyle Larson wasn't in the Championship 4, and he didn't even make the Round of 8. He suffered engine failure in the final race of the Round of 12 and didn't advance. But Larson still won four races this season, and was among the favorites to win the title entering the postseason.
His season may not have ended the way he hoped, but his driving still got him recognition by way of an award. Given to the best driver using the brand's oil, Mobil 1's best driver award went to Larson as a bit of a consolation prize for the disappointing end to his season.
