Two-time champion suffers serious injuries in horrific crash

Two-time Dakar champion Nani Roma suffered head and neck injuries in a horrific crash at the 2018 Dakar Rally.

The crash occurred at the end of the third stage of the race, and his car flipped and crashed. Co-driver Alex Haro without any major injuries, but Roma was diagnosed with head and cervical trauma, according to Autosport.

Haro and Roma still finished the stage only 26 minutes behind stage winner Nasser Al-Attiyah, but the 45-year old Roma was evacuated via helicopter and flown to Lima, Peru for further tests.

Roma won the championship in 2004 and 2014, but unfortunately it seems like his 2018 campaign will come to an early end.
