After what can only be described as an amazing season, Martin Truex Jr. capped it off with his championship speech at the 2017 NASCAR Awards.

In a season that saw Truex capture his first championship at the highest level of the sport, he culminated it by talking about his true love, and as he said, it's not racing.

Truex began his speech by thanking his girlfriend Sherry Pollex and he ended it in the same fashion. Pollex was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2014 and is still fighting her disease.

"Today she's still fighting her disease with tenacity and a never give-up attitude that inspires millions of people to do the same," said Truex. "She is the true champion."

He made sure to let his family and friends know the impact they've had not only on his career but his life as well. He went on to thank his extended family, the No. 78 team, for all they have done to help make him a champion.

He thanked his fellow drivers, including his two buddies that have departed the sport, at least as full-time drivers, Matt Kenseth and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

But his speech came full-circle when he again expressed his gratitude for his life partner.

"Babe I love you and thank you for the change you've caused in my life," added Truex. "You're an inspiration to all of us in this room and winning is a great feeling, but spending life with you is the real victory."

Truex humbly thanked all of those involved in his life and made sure they all know, he wouldn't be where he is without them. Truly a class act.
