This is not a good day for the  No. 77 Furniture Row Racing team and its driver, Erik Jones.

NASCAR.com reported a series of fines, suspensions and points losses after a post-race inspection following the Overton 400 at Pocono Raceway found a rear suspension violation.

It's proved to a costly mistake in more ways that one. Crew chief Chris Gayle was hit with a $50,000 fine and suspended for two Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship points events. The team lost points -- 25 owner points and 25 driver points. Jones, who finished in eighth place, was ruled encumbered, and now he sits 150 points out of playoff contention.

The team called the violations "unintentional" and said it won't appeal.
