Chip Ganassi is a legend. He is the only team owner in history to win the Indy 500, Daytona 500, the Brickyard 400, the Rolex 24 hour race at Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He has 11 Indycar championships and has teams in five different racing series.

There is no better choice to kick of the unofficial beginning of race season than him, and that's exactly what will happen on January 27th, according to Motor Racing Network. Ganassi will be the Grand Marshall for the 2018 Rolex 24 at Daytona and give the famous command, "Drivers, start your engines."

"This is a really big honor for me to be recognized by a race that has meant so much to me over my career, both as a driver and an owner," Ganassi Said via MRN. "The Rolex 24 At Daytona is one of motorsport's truly significant races. There are so many great cars, great drivers and manufacturers that all come together to make this a unique event. But it also requires so much work and coordination that when you ultimately make it to victory lane there is no greater satisfaction. I couldn't be more proud to be named the Grand Marshal of this great race."
