Talk about an entrance.

During the Super Bowl pre-game show, Rutledge Wood, from NBC's NASCAR coverage, came in riding atop a tractor on a frozen Minneapolis street, Wood rode on the top of the tractor and, according to broadcaster Dan Patrick,  came in "like Patton," a reference to Gen. George S. Patton.

But who was driving the tractor? None other than Dale Jr.

"To get here I had to make sure I had the right driver," Wood told Patrick, and then Junior came hopping out of the cab.

Junior retired from Cup series racing after last season, though he will race in a few Xfinity races this year. While he was supposed to broadcast NASCAR races, NBC has quickly latched on what the network believes is his star power, and is quickly increasing his profile.,. As part of that, he had a role in the Super Bowl pre-game, and will also have a part in the Winter Olympics.
