No way around it -- the weather, in many parts of the country, has been brutal.
North Carolina is no exception. The state declared a state of emergency ahead of a storm, expected to dump as much as four inches of snow in some parts of the state. The cold weather is also a problem, with a high not expected to break the freezing mark.
So when Dale Earnhardt Jr. came across some people in distress, he decided to help them out. Karma repaid his kindness by slamming his car into a tree. Here's what he said on Twitter:
NC stay off the roads today/tonight. 5 minutes after helping these folks I center punched a pine tree. All good. Probably just needs a new alignment.

As usual, his friends and fans were quick to respond:
Thanks for helping my guy J out. It was a group effort. You need help?

Is the tree okay?

That's not what Amy meant when she said take down the tree.
