Before last Saturday night’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway, each driver picked a song to be played during the driver intros.

Some drivers chose songs that represented their personalities, some chose songs that are related to racing, and some simply chose songs they like to hear.

You can find the entire list of songs here courtesy of Auto Racing Daily, but here are our top five songs that we think were the best fits for each driver.

  1. Dale Earnhardt Jr. — “Stuntin’ Like My Daddy” by Birdman and Lil Wayne

Dale Jr. and Kasey Kahne actually picked each other’s songs for the intro. This was Kahne’s pick for Earnhardt, and it was the perfect fit for him given the legacy of both Junior and Dale Earnhardt Sr.

2. Kasey Kahne — “You’re Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone” by Brooks and Dunn

Earnhardt’s choice for Kahne was also the perfect song. Kahne’s contract wasn’t renewed by Hendrick Motorsports despite him making the playoff field, and Dale Jr. predicts the team will miss him next season.

3. Chase Elliott — “Chevy Don’t Let Me Down” by Jeff Bates

Elliott is one of three winless drivers this season who are currently in the playoff field, and he was probably uttering this song title throughout Saturday night’s race. Elliott has had a great season, but he hasn’t been able to find a way to win a race. Either way, he should still make the playoffs.

4. Jimmie Johnson — “What’s My Name” by Snoop Dogg

Johnson is sitting outside the top-10 in the points, but the seven-time champion still has three wins this season. Just in case anyone forgot about him, Johnson played this reminder during his intro last weekend.

5. Austin Dillon — “Ain’t No Mercy” by Rick Ross

This would’ve been a cool choice for any driver based on the title of the song alone. Dillon won his first career race this season, and he will be in the playoff field this fall.

Honorable mentions to B.J. McLeod for “Kickstart My Heart” by Motley Crue and Kyle Larson for “Dirk Track Thing” by Kenny Montgomery.

It would be really cool if NASCAR turned this into a weekly tradition before each race.
