Cup series team puts to rest rumor that Danica Patrick may be joining them

Forget it. Not gonna happen.

No, Danica Patrick is not joining Roush Fenway Racing to race alongside her boyfriend, Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

While that would have made some interesting drama -- can you imagine the pillow talk if Danica wrecked Ricky, or vice-a-versa? -- it's just a pipe dream.

Bob Pockrass of ESPN, in a tweet, said he talked to Steve Newmark, the Roush Fenway president, and he game the thumbs down.

The Danica to Roush rumors blitzed the internet, and it all started with an interview.

When KickinTheTires asked her if she might join Stenhouse, her answer was, in part, "Ha, ha, you never know, I mean, you know ..."

It's not much different than the answer she's giving ever since she announced she was leaving Stewart-Haas Racing at the end of this season. She's looking at all option, trying to find a place that has the same passion that she has, etc.

But that's all it took. The Danica to Rousch rumors started flying.

But Pockrass, one of the most (if not the most) plugged in NASCAR reporter in the country, said in a single tweet -- don't bet on it.

Now, based on Newmark's remarks, we can put this one to bed.
