A new era of "baby" Benzes is on the way. Announced at the Shanghai auto show, the largest automotive trade show in the World, was the Concept A sedan. "The time of creases is over." Daimler design chief Gorden Wagener stated, expanding on the Mercedes-Benz design philosophy of "Sensual Purity."

"With its perfect proportions and a sensual treatment of surfaces with reduced lines, it is the next milestone of Sensual Purity and has the potential to introduce a new design era," said Gorden Wagener.

Although shown on a CLA sized sedan, the Concept A will likely be a preview of smaller entry-level Mercedes's built on the MFA2 architecture.

Once looked down on by Mercedes purist, the CLA and other small Benz's play an important role in brand loyalty often serving as form of entry to a younger generation of luxury car buyers.

Mercedes has not divulged powertrain or platform details, but if the concept stays true, the distance of the front wheel arch to front door suggests front or all-wheel drive.

Mercedes-Benz is now the top selling luxury car brand in America.  With the fresh new design seen here in the gorgeous Concept A, Mercedes is positioning themselves to stay there for a long time to come.
