While diving in the Merrimack River near Haverhill, Massachusetts, divers for the Clean River project noticed the gnarled wreckage of a 1988 Nissan Sentra. Once they were able to extract the car from the river, and identify the VIN number and the plates on the mangled car, the project contacted the State Police who were able to match the car’s information to a police report on a stolen vehicle from 28 years ago. According to the local paper the Eagle Tribune, the Clean River Project has received a grant to remove 28 more cars from the Merrimack, which may result in even more resolutions to unsolved cases.
