Officials in Fukuoka, Japan are scrambling to discover the cause of and figure out solutions to repair a massive 27 meter wide sinkhole which mysteriously opened up near a crowded subway station. The 15 meter deep hole destroyed sewer and power lines as it collapsed, filling the hole with dangerous levels of waste, in addition to cutting power to more than 170 households. The leading theory is that nearby subway construction may have triggered the road’s collapse, but no official comment has been made while crews struggle to devise solutions to draining and filling the crater.
