If you don’t have jumper cables and no one is around when your battery goes dead, getting your car started can be a monumental problem. But if you have a little rope and a jack, you can get the old jalopy running with a little elbow grease. Now, this will only really work with a gas engine and a manual transmission, but it’s still helpful to know. If you put the car in 1st gear, jack up the front wheel, then put the car in start, if you wrap a rope around the wheel and tug on it like a lawnmower’s pull start, you should be able to get the engine to turn over as though you’d push started it. A pretty neat trick to know if you’re in a pinch.
Battery Dead? No Cables? No Problem. Just Grab Some Rope!
