“They were pretty generic cars,” owner Emin Kureghian said of his BMW 2000 CA. With it’s small profile, 60’s art-deco styling, 4-cylinder carbureted engine, and squat tires, it certainly doesn’t look quite like what BMW has done since then. “You picture, back in ’69, the guy that got in here, i mean, he had the coat and tie, thin cigarette in his mouth and driving this luxurious thing—to him, it was a Bentley of the time.” And it’s true. This little car was the savior to the entire brand, with the company selling enough of these to pull it out of a serious slump which threatened to tank its American presence. Maybe that’s where this 2000 CA’s appeal comes from?
