That secret didn't last long...and I'm guessing that's just the way Ford had it mapped out.

No sooner had I hit publish on the story I wrote Wednesday about Ford's cryptic video teasing a new model of vehicle, Motor Trend sent out a tweet very early Thursday morning announcing that Ford will unveil a new ST model of the Edge SUV, a first in the Ford SUV lineup.

The North American International Auto Show starts in just two days, so a little choreographed sneak peek allowed to Motor Trend is just enough time to create some serious momentum towards the "official" unveiling.

Motor Trend reports in a video the new Edge is beefier than its predecessor --- by a lot. It will have a twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 that produces 335 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. Ford also gave the SUV a firmer suspension and larger brakes.

This appears to be an extension of new CEO Jim Hackett's push to have Ford dominate the SUV and truck market. Hackett recently announced he is reallocating $7 billion in capital from Ford cars to trucks and SUVs.
